Hey! We’re moving down the coast an hour to… Solvang!
An hour may sound like a long time but it sure beats flying 10 hours. Solvang is an authentic Danish town located in Southern California. Windmills, Danish Museums, Ostriches and more, this town is full of surprises and is a wonderful place to visit.
The History – back in 1911, a large group of Danish natives migrated away from the frigid Midwest winters toward California and founded what is now the Solvang. The Danes brought with them a taste of their home, including bakeries, restaurants, merchants and architecture. Today, the same culture still stands and is sought out by travelers not only in California but all over the country.

Activities
- Feeding Ostriches – OstrichLand, USA is a fun excursion for just about anyone! Get up close and personal with these amazing creatures and even feed them if you’d like.
- Bike Riding – the Solvang Century is an annual 100 mile long bike race open to the public (don’t worry, 50 mile options are available too). As far as spectating professional races go, Amgen’s Tour of California also runs through Solvang and is a great activity for fans!
